Derek Chambers has been providing pet care services and one-to-one dog walking in the East Finchley (N2) area since 2011
Derek is well known in the area as he can be seen most days in Cherry Tree and Coldfall woods.
As well as pet care Derek also runs a very active scout group based in Highgate/East Finchley, which also means I have an Enhanced DBS and am part of the East Finchley Festival committee.
Dog-Friendly Parks in East Finchley
Cherry Tree woods
Cherry Tree is one of the main parks in east Finchley. It offers a small wooded area to play great enrichment games, such as finding it with your dog. There is also a reasonable size field.
The Cherry Tree Cafe is dog-friendly with a jar of doggy treats and offers excellent coffee for a relaxed break under the canopy.
Highgate woods
This ancient woodland is not strictly East Finchley. It is only a 5-minute walk from Cherry Tree Woods and provides a great spot to walk on hot summer days due to the heavy tree canopy.
Highgate Woods is 70 acres of woodland, and you can quickly feel like you are in the middle of the country.
Highgate Woods has two drinking fountains for dogs and humans, a dog-friendly cafe, and two toilets.
The woods open at 7:30 every morning and close just after dusk, with the earliest closing time being 4:30 pm.
Coldfall Woods
This woodland and playing fields border East Finchley and Muswell Hill. It is 14 hectares and an ancient woodland.
Coldfall has many fallen trees and other great places to play games with your dog while walking.
Dog-Friendly Pubs in East Finchley

Pet Suppliers
Again whilst it is not in East Finchley, it is probably the closest independent pet shop to the area. This pet shop is family-run and has been on Broadway since the 1930s. I have used it since I got my first dog (Prince) in the 1980s and recommended Nigel and his sons.
If you know of any other pet-friendly shops, restaurants, cafes, or bars in the East Finchley Area (or North London), please let us know so we can add them.
