Whilst we love our pets and other loved ones year-round Valentine’s day is a very special day to show our love.
It is a well-known fact that our dogs show us their love all year round and are love to please us. Why not use February 14th to spend some quality time together?
So whether you are single and your dog is your valentine, or you want to make sure they are included in this special day, there are many ways to make this happen safely.
It is important to remember that chocolate is dangerous for the dog and a bunch of roses is also a nonstarter as it will be wasted on a dog. There are, of course, other dangers that valentine day brings.
However, below are a few ideas you can implement to have a fun and safe valentine day with your dog.
Consider a double date.
If the person you are going on a date night with has a dog, then why not consider a double date. Pick a dog-friendly restaurant or pub, and then you can both bring your dogs with you.
Some places have a special menu for dogs, or you could cook a romantic candlelit meal for the two of you and include a dog-safe version.
Playdate with friends
Another alternative is to ask your single, dog owner friends over for a doggy playdate. Whilst the dogs are playing the humans can enjoy a nice afternoon tea together.
Visit a pet shop
The majority of dogs like to visit the local pet shop. It is full of great new smells and meeting new dogs and people.
As the people that work in pet stores are usually big pet fans, they will most likely make a fuss of your four-legged friend and give them a treat.
You could also allow your dog to pick out his new toy.
Dinner for two
If you are having a night in with your dog, then why not try cooking something new? You could try something like a doggy fish supper which is very yummy. Whatever you consider cooking, just make sure its dog friendly so you can share the meal.
Have a professional photoshoot.
Why not remember this special day by having a photoshoot with you, your partner and your dog. You can then frame the picture and put it on the rule so everyone can see how much your dog means to you.
Try some homemade treats that you can both share.
As the saying goes “Sharing is caring” So why not get your chef hat on and get baking. The following cookie recipe tastes great and can also be shared with your dog without having to worry.

1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup peanut butter (make sure it that it is dog friendly and doesn’t have any xylitol in it)
1 cup semi-skimmed milk

After around 25 minutes, check to see f they are ready.
Spend the weekend away.

Imply bring along your dogs’ favourite bed/blanket along with a tasty, long-lasting chew. Then spend the night chilling out with your favourite tipple having enjoyed a nice meal which has been cooked for you.
Go for a walk
Why not go for a nice walk and explore somewhere new. Simply layer up and get outside and enjoy the countryside or woodland along with some quality time together.
