Finchley dog walker – a qualified dog walker and pet professional
We all wish we could be with our dogs more and give them the exercise and company they need during the day. However, our busy schedules don’t always allow this. Maybe you must go into the office every day or even once daily? Perhaps you have to lock yourself in the attic office whilst doing online Zoom meetings.
Whatever the case, and you are thinking of hiring a dog walker to help you out, you must do your homework and choose the right dog walker for your requirements.
Firstly, it is important to make sure they are insured. Derek Chambers (owner of Finchley dog walker) is insured via .protectivity.com.
Secondly, as they will be entering your home, possibly whilst you are out, it is essential to ensure they have a DBS – Derek Chambers has an enhanced DBS with the scout association.
Thirdly – Do they have first aid training to be able to deal with emergencies and simple injuries that may happen when out – especially with working dogs that love to explore? Derek is fully First Aid Trained for both Animals and Humans.
Fourthly – are they members of any pet professional organisations? Finchley Dog Walker is a Gold Member of the Pet Professional network and, as a result, has undergone various checks, including DBS (via scouts) and is fully First Aid Trained.
And finally, what experience have they had and what training? Derek Chambers has been around dogs since he was 10, most of whom have been rescued. As well as having dogs for over 30 years for the last six years, Derek has helped with Tip Top Dog Training school as an assistant. You can also see our testimonials.
More recently, Derek has been building up his CPD hours in Dog Care and Training and working towards a Level 3 Diploma of Canine Body Language Specialist with the Dog Training College and Reactive Dogs.
A good dog walker should keep up to date with modern positive training techniques and understand the dog’s body language.
